Alen Dale Glines, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2022, in Silvis, Illinois at age 55, surrounded by family. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 10th from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Drunken Barrel, 821 15th Avenue, East Moline, Il.
Born May 5th, 1966 in Davenport, Iowa to Glen and Thelma Glines, Alen grew up in Davenport. Alen found the love of his life, Kari Ryan, and they married on March 7, 1992, and the two began their journey through life together. The couple crisscrossed the country driving big rigs and loved that adventurous lifestyle that surely tightened their bond. You were likely to hear anything from Johnny Cash to Iron Maiden echoing from the cab as they explored what the American landscape had to offer. Sailors on a concrete sea, they were. The two enjoyed spontaneous trips to Chicago to check out the city and ate a Nathan’s hot dog or two. Al also loved to visit naval piers and took interest in old ships and planes.
Al was drawn to fast cars, motorcycles and boats, a passion likely sparked by childhood years of riding dirt bikes around Mt. Joy. He loved his Firebird and also had an affinity for Shelby Mustangs. He was a familiar face around the Cordova drag strip and you might also find him on a speedboat in Lake Tahoe. His mechanical talents were many, from tinkering with small engines to major engine overhauls. His gifted hands stayed busy with carpentry and woodworking in later years. His eye for detail led him to build model ships, even the daunting ship in a bottle feat.
Alen's love of life is imprinted on the hearts of all who were in his life. Those who knew him will not forget his smiling eyes, and his ever present sh*t eating grin. He will be remembered and missed by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Thelma Glines, his sister Linda Jacobson and sister-in-law Bo Glines.
He is survived by his wife Kari Glines, sister Glenda Betts, brother Kenneth Glines, his son Levi Kleindolph and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and express condolences on his Memory Wall.
