Amanda Filgo, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on October 9, 2023. She was born in Birmingham, England, on November 12, 1965.
Amanda was a remarkable woman known for her strength, sense of humor, generosity, and work ethic. Most importantly, she was a dedicated Nana to her 8 grandchildren: Jacey, Lennon, Logan, Mo, Calvin, Molly, Sienna, and Greyson. She excitedly anticipated the birth of her 9th grandchild.
Together with her husband Samuel Filgo, Amanda raised a family of five: Keeley, Aaron, Kyle, Bianca, and Courtland. She gained three daughters-in-law: Kelci, Caitlyn, and Miranda. In her final days, Amanda was surrounded by the love, care, and chaos of her big family.
Amanda is survived by her siblings Sherrie, George, Dawn, and Lisa. She continued to hold her late brother Gary close in her heart. She also held Birmingham in her heart, was forever proud to be a Brummie, and loved her cup of tea.
Amanda was employed as a server at Red Lobster for over 20 years. There, she found family in her coworkers. She amazed her community with her dedication to work while she battled cancer.
Amanda's interests were simple and heartfelt. She enjoyed walking, loved music, and was an enthusiastic gift giver. She doted on her dogs. They were not just pets; they were her loyal companions.
As we bid farewell to Amanda, we remember her as an anchor, who wanted everyone around her to be happy, and savored her last moments with her grandchildren and family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, both at home and in her workplace. Amanda Filgo, you were a guiding light in our lives, a loving wife, mother, Nana, sister, and friend. We will miss you so much.
