Benjamin James Tarnish, 37, of The Quad Cities, passed away on Saturday, August, 5th, 2023 at home surrounded by his family while they prepared dinner. We believe he was salty at the cancer preventing him from the pleasure of solid food, so he shuffled off this mortal coil.
Ben was born on August, 27, 1985, in Silvis, IL, a free spirit, he left this world on his terms. A 2004 graduate of Davenport Central High School, he received a scholarship to study vocal performance at The University of Iowa. Ben was active in choral, band, theater; branching out into the local community to share his hot air. Equipped with a silver tongue he later sold cars at several dealerships in the QCA.
Benjamin struggled with the disease of addiction. This coupled with his mental health were battles that thwarted the talent, wit, and potential he possessed. We believe that with transparency we can empower future generations to seek help.
Following his wishes there will not be a service. His true wish was for a full Viking funeral on the Mississippi River, however his family is prevented by federal law. A special thank you to Trinity Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Davenport Central Music Department.
Ben is survived by his parents, Stephen Tarnish and Mary Tarnish-Kinkaid; stepparents, Beth Esmoil and David Kinkaid; four sisters, Jessica Tarnish, Rebecca Tarnish (Clifford LaRose) , Deborah Logan (Tony), and Stephanie Wakeen (Matt); two nieces, Norah and Fiona Wakeen; and nephew, William Logan.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and express condolences on his Memory Page at mvcremation.com
