Beverly Ann (Kelleher) Fortune, 91, of Geneseo, IL. passed away on October 27th, 2023, at Hammond Henry Hospital Long Term Care - Geneseo.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a private family Celebration of Life will be scheduled for a later date. Burial will also be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, IL. Mississippi Valley Cremation will assist the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Beverly A. Fortune Memorial Fund.
Bev was born in Madison, WI, on May 4th, 1932, the daughter of Frances "Cal" and Jennie (Hoverson) Kelleher. She graduated from Madison Central High. She united in marriage to Raymond Fortune on September 15th, 1956, in Madison WI. He proceeded her in death in February 2000.
She was employed for many years at Good Shepard foundation - Geneseo. Bev loved being outside soaking up the sunshine. She enjoyed a good, competitive euchre or cribbage game. She was a sports enthusiast of every kind, attending many football, baseball, softball games and track events of her children. She loved, loved her Green Bay Packers. She had a special place in her heart for all cats and dogs and she never met one that she didn’t like. Above all else, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children Tom (Cheryl) Fortune of Gobles MI, Sue Smith (Rich Ballard) of Erie, IL., Diane Fortune (Mindy Brown) of Geneseo IL. Pat (Trish) Fortune of Florida and Gary Fortune of Iowa, eight grandchildren; Vincent (Lindsay) Fortune, Steven Fortune, Nora (Dan) Verzaal, Amanda (Travis) Ruff, Jared (Meredith) Fortune, Erik Fortune, Taylor (Jamie) Smith, Jamie Smith, ten great grandchildren; Conner, Reagan, Lainey, Everett, Evelynn, Nolan, Lyla, Kendall, Brody, and Bodie.
She was preceded in death by her parents ‘Cal’ and Jennie Kelleher, husband Raymond Fortune, grandson Douglas Fortune.
