Bonnie Arrington

September 27, 1955 — June 28, 2023

Bonnie "Jean" Arrington, 67, of Davenport, Iowa, went peacefully to be with the Lord on June 28, 2023, at her granddaughter's home, surrounded by love from family.

Services will be held on July 7 at Northside Baptist Church, 4601 N Division St., Davenport, Iowa 52806. Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm, and Service to follow at 5 pm.

Bonnie "Jean" was born September 27, 1955, to Cager C. Collins and M. Maxine Smith-Collins. She was the fourth of eight children. Bonnie "Jean" grew up in Geneseo, Illinois. She took the Lord as her Savior at 13 years of age. She was involved in many activities in church and school. She graduated from JD Darnell Senior High School in 1973. She worked her entire life in healthcare, only breaking to raise a family. She started as a candy striper at Geneseo Hammond Henry Hospital. Then she moved on to Good Samaritan, Dixon Mental Health Hospital, Handicapped Development Center, Doors private care, and ended her career at Help at Home for many years. Jean was an artist drawing portraits of people, real and imagined. She was a poet writing poems about love, family, and such. Signing her name "Just Jean" with plain and simple wheat, her name just under the leaf.

Bonnie "Jean" had four children, and several who considered her a second mom. Twenty-one grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, and she helped raise them all. There was always room at Nana's. She loved her grand and great-grandchildren beyond measure. She took pleasure in seeing them grow and reach milestones and achievements.

Bonnie "Jean" took care of everyone all her life. Her daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters all had the honor and privilege of caring for her in her final days. Bonnie "Jean" was selfless; she went above and beyond to help others. She would go without so others could have. She made do with little to nothing and was humble. She didn't have much but was thankful for all she had—and never complained. She had grace about her with her patience, love, and kindness. She was more than words can express.

Bonnie married Rodney Hawkins Sr. in Sept. 1980 and had three children. They later parted ways. Bonnie met the love of her life, Henry E. Arrington, in 1992, and they were married on July 21, 1995, and remained married for over 25 years. They raised the kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids together. They enjoyed listening to the oldies while they delivered papers. They enjoyed each other time and company and loved watching game shows and movies together. They stayed by each other through thick and thin and built a life to be proud of together.
