Carol Benedict

June 18, 1935 — July 19, 2022

Carol Ann Benedict, 87, of Moline, IL, passed away July 19, 2022, at Clarissa Cook Hospice in Bettendorf, IA.

Per her request, cremation rites were accorded and burial will be a private ceremony in the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to King’s Harvest Pet Rescue in Davenport.

Carol was born on June 18, 1935, in Decatur, IL, to Edgar and Mabel Jones. She married Ronald McKenzie in 1952, with whom she had two children; they subsequently divorced and in 1958, she married Raymond Benedict.

Carol was a life-long homemaker. She was a very creative person who enjoyed going to antique malls and second-hand stores, collecting antique dolls, working on miniatures for her dollhouses, and raising the many Chihuahua dogs she had throughout her life. In the 70’s and 80’s, her and Ray attended all the regional antique doll and toy shows. They were known for their excellence in antique doll restoration, with Ray doing the porcelain body repairs and painting, and Carol re-stuffing leather bodies, refurbishing the dolls’ wigs, and hand-sewing clothes made from antique doll clothes patterns and material she found. They were a very talented team who truly enjoyed their hobby.

Survivors include her daughters, Pamela (Michael)Jeffrey , Oreana, IL; Patricia (Gary)Badtram, Davenport, IA; son, Michael (Lynn)Benedict , Grand Mound, IA; 3 Grandchildren (Janiece, Tracy and David); and 2 step-Grandchildren (Sabrina and Terry).

She was preceded in death by her husbands, a step-granddaughter (Christina), a grandson (Michael), her parents, brother, and sister.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Clarissa Cook Hospice for the excellent care they provided Carol.
