Carol Ostler

Carol Ann Ostler, affectionately known as Carol to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024, in Calamus, Iowa, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born on July 18, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, Carol's zest for life and her vibrant spirit were evident from an early age. Carol's journey through life was marked by her love for dancing and music, which brought joy to her and those around her. Her gracefully moving to the rhythm of her favorite tunes. Carol's creativity and vivacity were a source of inspiration to all who knew her. Despite the challenges she faced, including her fight with lung cancer, Carol's resilience and strength never waned. She approached every day with the same tenacity and optimism that characterized her entire life. Her indomitable spirit remained unshaken to the very end.

Carol was preceded in death by her loving parents, Anna and Robert Ostler, and her siblings Bobby, Flow, and Goldie Ostler. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will be forever held in the hearts of her family.

She is survived by her devoted children, Robert (Dana) Jarrett and Leona Jarrett, who she raised with all the love and dedication a mother could give. Carol's memory will also be treasured by her siblings, Charles, William, Lydia, Josie, and Franky Ostler, who will miss her deeply. Her grandchildren, David Hayse, Chasity (Aaron) Whittaker, Whitney (Presley A) Cooper, Jessica (George) Clapp, Logan (Shaya) Jones, Jayson Jones, and Patrick Shipler will carry forward her legacy of kindness and joy. Carol was blessed with the joy of knowing her great-grandchildren, Mason Evans, Dawson Oliver, Carson Whittaker, Mariaha Whittaker, Kayelyn Himes, Karoline Clapp, Nash Clapp, Parker Cooper, Milo Cooper, and Annabelle Jones, who will grow up hearing stories of their remarkable great-grandmother.

Carol's life was one of celebration, and her educational journey, which culminated in her earning a GED, reflected her belief in the power of perseverance and lifelong learning. She tackled life's challenges with an unwavering resolve, and her educational achievements were a testament to her determination. A woman of many talents, Carol's interests extended beyond the dance floor and the melodies that she adored. Her presence was a comforting and uplifting force in the lives of those she touched. Carol's spirit, her love for dance and music, and her unrelenting optimism will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
