Charles Holm, or Chuck, or Dad as I call him, has been so dearly missed since his passing. Dad passed away July 17th, 2022, at 10:52 pm from secondary health issues from his lung cancer.
My dad's cancer was incredibly aggressive and fast-growing. There were only three weeks between diagnosis and passing. The whole event has left our family so sad and frankly dazed as to the speed it happened. He is survived by his daughter Alli, son-in-law Jason, Grandkids Abby, age 20; Christian, age 16; Eileen, age 11; and his son Chuck McKnight. He has two sisters, Celeste and Cheri, and their children. And he is greatly missed by his best friend, Roger.
I think the lesson my dad would want you to know is that life is best lived to the fullest when surrounded by love and family. May it be the love of a daughter, a sister, a son-in-law, a grandchild, or a best friend.
My dad always loved deeply and honestly. If you were in his life, you mattered, and you could feel his love and compassion. He was a humble, simple man who only wanted the best for everyone, and he would drop everything to help another in need. He felt that a quality life is composed of love, family, and hard work. I review daily the sweet, funny messages I would receive from him. He always told me how much he loved us and how proud he was. He would then follow up with a funny cat meme to end our daily talks. My dad was the guy who knew everyone's birthday and would make sure to message them a funny one and send love. He remembered his immediate family's and extended family's special days. He just wanted everyone to feel loved and important. My dad is remembered for gentle kindness and hard work, but most importantly, he's known for being caring and loving.
So please join us on Friday, August 19th, 2022, at LeClaire Civic Center in LeClaire, Iowa, at 2 pm for some refreshments and remembrance of my dad's legacy.
Love, family, and kindness are what I remember my dad for. Let's all celebrate these qualities together and share our love for my dad. I know he can hear us up there. I'm pretty sure his hearing has been restored. (Inside joke). No hearing aid needed.
Thank you, and I hope to see you there.
