Donald Keith Moore, lovingly known to friends and family as Don, was born on February 2, 1952, in McGregor, Iowa. He lived a life marked by kindness, laughter, and a profound sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him. On October 11, 2024, he passed away peacefully at Allure of Geneseo in Geneseo, Illinois, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories.
Don began his career at Montgomery Ward in the Quad Cities in the electronics and major appliance departments. After Ward's, Don was employed for many years as a slot manager at Jumer's until retirement.
In 1970, he graduated from MFL High School in Monona, Iowa, and in 1974 he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Iowa.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Don often recall his delightful sense of humor, encapsulated in what many affectionately referred to as “Donism’s.” His famous quotes and uplifting demeanor had a magical way of turning any difficult moment into laughter and any joyful occasion into an even more memorable one. Don, also affectionately known by some as "Artie", had the rare ability to have you in hysterics with just a side glance, and his warmth and insight made every gathering more enjoyable.
He loved traveling and just hanging out with his many friends and family.
Don is deeply missed by his loving family who survive him: his siblings, Jo Petrossi, Roberta (Bobbi) Morgan, and Richard Moore. His spirit continues to shine in their hearts, as do the loving memories shared with him.
He is preceded in death by his dear sister Patricia (Pat) Shipley, as well as his parents, Irene and Keith Moore. Don's legacy of laughter, kindness, and love will undoubtedly be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Don will be laid to rest beside his mother and father in Monona, Iowa.
