Donna J. Cooper passed away on December 29, 2023, after battling a long illness. Born on December 10, 1933, in Iowa City, IA, Donna's life was a vibrant tapestry of love, laughter, and adventure. Her final days were spent in Moline, IL, surrounded by the love of her family.
On November 13, 1954, Donna began her lifelong journey of seven decades with Donald Cooper, a union that was blessed with five children, a legacy that extended to grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her devotion to her family was the cornerstone of her life.
Donna's children, Dean (Tina) Cooper of Pearland, TX; Lisa DeClerck of Coal Valley, IL; Cindy (Ken) McVey of Largo, FL; Steve Cooper of Davenport, IA; and Julie Almquist of Temple, TX, will carry forward her spirit of compassion and resilience. Her grandchildren, Clint Cooper, Amy Cooper, Tyson McKeag, Lora McKeag, Amber McVey, Lindsey Wisely, Tristan Richardson, Drew Almquist, and Ben Almquist, along with her seven great-grandchildren, were the light of her life, each holding a special place in her heart.
Donna graduated from Rock Island High School. After spending years raising her family She graduated from Blackhawk college of nursing with a RN degree. Donna's career was marked by her dedication to helping others, working at Moline Lutheran Public Hospital in Moline, IL, Chandler Regional Hospital in Chandler, AZ, and Bullhead City Regional Hospital in Bullhead City, AZ.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Donna was a woman of many interests. She had an insatiable passion for reading and she delighted in the magic of plays and musicals, and her adventurous spirit was evident in her love for travel. Donna and her husband shared a fondness for the excitement of casinos and spending time together.
Donna's sense of humor was as infectious as it was endearing, often lighting up a room with laughter. Her intelligence was a force to be reckoned with, and her adventurous nature inspired those around her.
Preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Pat, Carole, Judy, and Jerry, and her son-in-law Jay.
The family would also like to thank the special people who cared for her at the memory care unit in her last year of life.
