Doris Joanne Dirks, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on March 27, 1934, Doris lived a remarkable life filled with love and kindness, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
Doris was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Cindy Atwood and Lorri Ellis (Kent). Her nurturing spirit extended to her role as a grandmother, a title she held dear. She is survived by her grandchildren: Tom Atwood (Mary), Sara Buxbaum (Don), Bryan Ellis (Kimberly), Don Dirks (Jolinda), Troy Dirks (Brittany), Andrew Dirks (Holly), and Amy Fitzgerald (Ryan). Doris was especially proud to have 12 great-grandchildren, whose lives were brightened by her warmth and affection.
Throughout her life, Doris maintained close bonds with her large family, which included many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. They will fondly remember her for the joy and laughter she brought into their lives.
Doris is predeceased by her son, Randy Dirks, and her grandson, Benjamin Ellis, both of whom she missed deeply. She also grieved the loss of her son-in-law, Tom Atwood, and daughter-in-law, Becky Dirks. Doris’s siblings, Ethel DeBuhr and Abbie Duhn, along with brothers Don and Nels Christensen, have also passed, as have her cherished nephews Delmar and Rick Duhn and niece Lori DeBuhr.
Doris’s life is a testament to the strength of family bonds and the importance of love in our lives. She will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family and friends, for the countless moments of joy she shared, and for the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those who knew her.
