Franklin "Frank" Carroll

April 20, 1942 — March 8, 2024

Peacefully and surrounded by his family, Franklin Floyd Carroll of Moline passed away on March 8, 2024, at the age of 81. He was born on April 20, 1942, to William and Mary Carroll of Grafton, WV.

Frank led a life and legacy strongly intertwined with his family and the church he served. He is survived by his sons, Scott Carroll and Bradley Carroll; daughters, Lisa McEchearn, Christina Scheckel, and Dottie Hagberg. His memory will also be cherished by Bill Carroll and Dottie Kisner, better known to them as Butch, a beloved brother.

Frank had a spirit of generosity that extended beyond his family through being a pillar in his church. His life was rich with hobbies, from delivering milk to driving several hundreds of miles in a semi-truck. The coffee cup was his handle, and so fitting no matter what time of the day it was, he had a coffee cup in his hand, watching his Westerns on TV. He also enjoyed using his upholstery machine and was always working on several new projects. His favorite thing he looked forward to every Thursday was going bowling alongside his league with his bright yellow ball.

In 1961, Frank's heart led him to the altar, where he married the love of his life, Patricia Carroll. We have all heard him tell the story of how they met at the skating rink; he always had a sparkle in his eye no matter how many times he said it. He cherished his role as a grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren the most. He was better known to them as Nubs, and they would never let him live that down. Despite how many grandchildren he had, each and every one of them was his "favorite" one.

Franklin will be remembered as a man with very few words, but his smile said it all. His legendary jokes that we each have at least one we will never forget. Frank's story is one of love and faith and his unwavering commitment to his family and his church. His life was filled with purpose and love, along with all the memories he created. His legacy will live on in the relationships he built and in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
