It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Geraldine (Geri) Mary Kendall on June 1, 2023. Geri passed peacefully in her home at the age of 91, surrounded by her immediate family.
The Kendall's will host a celebration of life in Geri's honor open to the public on Sunday, July 2, 2023, from 2 PM - 4 PM at the old Galva Bank lobby 112 Exchange St.
Geri was born June 19, 1931, in Chippewa Falls, WI, to parents Everett and Millie Duval. The family relocated to St. Louis when Geri was very young, and at the age of 8, Geri moved with her family to Elmwood, IL. It was at Elmwood High School where Geri met her future husband, Joe. They married after Joe returned from the Army and Geri had graduated from Browns Business College in Peoria. They spent time traveling, bicycling in Europe, and farming east of Elmwood, then moved to a farm outside of Galva, IL, in February 1960.
The Galva farm is where Geri, affectionately known as (the dove) and Joe (the crow) settled and raised five children along with a German student, Astrid Guzman, who, to this day, has become a special part of the family. Geri was the "real deal." She had a servant's heart, serving her community and church and playing a pivotal role in the Galva Women's Club. After her children were raised, Geri became a Tour Director for Mayflower Tours. She loved showing off the country to hundreds of touring guests as they traveled across the United States. Geri then joined Joe out in Glacier Park, MT, where they both enjoyed working with the summer park visitors as tour guides through Glacier National Park.
She loved her family, friends, and everyone she met. Geri was creative and had a great sense of humor and a way of getting along with everyone. She inspired and influenced thousands of people around her. She had a keen sense of style and was a master in the kitchen. Geri will be missed tremendously by all.
Surviving her in death include her husband, Joe Kendall; children, Darcy Tippenhauer, Chris Kendall, Robin Harkness, and Toby Kendall; 9 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Everett and Mildred Duval; siblings, Richard Duval, Neil Duval, and Winifred Amundsen; and son, Eric Kendall.
