Gloria M. Bentley, 91, of Davenport, passed away early morning on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Genesis East Medical Center after suffering a stroke at her home while resting.
Gloria was born in Rock Island, IL, to George H. and Ruth A. (Tanner) Johnson. She was a graduate of Rock Island High School. She married James Y. Bentley in 1953. They were married for 20 years and divorced.
Gloria worked as an office secretary for Quad City businesses until her retirement in 2001. She enjoyed her home and family, working in her yard, gardening, and baking for family gatherings. She was a caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a genuine friend to all.
Survivors include her sons Glen (Lori) Bentley, Davenport, and Neal (Lora) Bentley, Ames; grandchildren Cambri (Dennis) McMahon, Princeton, TX; Julie (Blake) Stallman, Cedar Rapids; Lisa Bentley, Davenport; Sara Bentley, Milwaukee; James Bentley, Ames; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews: her cousin Wayne Scherer, Rock Island.
Per Gloria’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services. A private burial for immediate family will be held at a later date.
She was preceded in death by her parents of Rock Island, her sister Pauline and husband Clem Woest of Indiana, and her former husband James Y. Bentley, Bettendorf.
