Jim Bakeris (63), husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on January 31st, 2024. He was born on November 30th, 1960, to Jim and Joyce Bakeris, and grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa. Jim lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear.
He was also an avid duck hunter who found enjoyment in the great outdoors. His passion for nature and the thrill of the hunt were defining aspects of true characteristics of being an Eagle Scout. Additionally, he was known for his enthusiasm for hands-on projects around the house, a trait that brought him both satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Joy, and his two daughters, Jamie and Jenna (soon to be married to Landon Daniels), and dog, Biscuit. Alongside his immediate family, Jim is survived by his brothers, Dick (Kaarin) Bakeris, Bob (Pam) Bakeris, David Bakeris, and Mark (Kari) Bakeris, all of whom shared in the close-knit bonds of brotherhood. There are also many surviving cousins, nieces, nephews, and an aunt and uncle. Their family gatherings are marked by camaraderie, shared stories, and the unbreakable ties that connect the Bakeris family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Joyce Bakeris, and his two dogs, Tanner and Twinkie.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 10th, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. A memorial service will follow, starting at 11:00 a.m. Both will be located at their family church, North Ridge Community Church in Eldridge, Iowa. Family and friends are welcome to dress casually for both the visitation and memorial service.
