Janel Romayne Schilling, 49, passed away at her home in Davenport on Saturday, April 15, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born on September 25, 1973, in Miami, FL, to Mark Schilling and Lissa (Cooksey) Cantu.
Janel was preceded in death by her grandfather, George Cooksey; and uncle, Samuel Cooksey.
She is survived by her son with Mike Harris, Evan Harris; mother, Lissa (Crispin) Cantu; father, Mark Schilling; grandmother, Marlene Cooksey; sisters, Christine (Doug) Granger and Vanessa (Jon) Hartley; brother Arturo (Shanna Delgado) Infante; uncle, Christopher (Charlotte) Cooksey; nieces, Julia Granger, Liliana Hartley and Elena Infante; and nephews Brett Granger and Andrew Hartley.
Janel enjoyed camping and fishing with her son Evan and her friends, and spending time with her family. Credit Island was a favorite place where she liked to relax with loved ones. Janel loved caring for her cats, Shadow and Striker. She worked at John Deere for more than 20 years, most recently with Vonachen Services. Janel was a wonderful mother, sister, and daughter, and she will be missed so much.
The family would like to thank Janel's good friend Angi Bengham, who helped take care of her in her final days, and Evan's grandmother, Cindy Harris, for all of her help with Janel and Evan.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
