Janis Grogan

August 13, 1949 — November 2, 2021

Janis "Jan" Grogan, 72, of Colona, IL, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the home of her daughter after a short, brave battle with cancer.

Graveside Services and inurnment will be held Monday, November 8, 2021 at 12:00 pm in Rock Island National Cemetery Rock Island, IL. Family and friends wishing to attend the graveside service, please meet at Wendt Funeral Home, 1811 15th Street Pl., Moline, IL, at or before 11:30 am to join the procession to National Cemetery.

Jan was born in Owensboro, KY, on August 13, 1949, to Wilfred and Helen (Mix) Lyons. She married James Grogan on July 21, 1979.

She graduated from Brimfield High School in Brimfield, IL, and Black Hawk College Respiratory program. She worked as a respiratory therapist for many years. Jan loved to travel and has lived in many places, from the East Coast to the West Coast with Livermore, CA, being her favorite.

She is survived by her children: Angie (Rob) Williams of Geneseo, IL, David (Tera) Stone of Kokomo, IN, and Tia (Adam) Lambrecht of Silvis, IL. She was "Nanny" to her grandchildren Brittney, Jamie, Marissa, Darian, Jordan, Corrine, Taiden, Addaline, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Jim, her parents, her daughter-in-law, Lora, her grandson, David, and three sisters.

The family would like to thank special family friends: Kim Quinn and Meghan Whitlock for all of their help and dedication, as well as Genesis hospice for their exemplary care.
