Jason William Carlson was born on September 26, 1976, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Joseph William Carlson and Debra Lynn Durham. Jason, a man of simple pleasures, lived a carefree life. His kind and fun-loving nature endeared him to all, and his readiness to assist those in need was a testament to his character. He had a knack for making everyone feel special and loved. Jason's hobbies included playing pool, driving, listening to music, supporting The Chicago Bears, working on cars, fishing, and tinkering. But above all, he cherished his time with his family. Even in death, his giving heart continued to beat as he saved two lives through organ donation.
Jason is survived by his parents, Joseph Carlson (Kathy) and Debra Durham, who were his pillars of strength. He leaves behind his sisters, Molly (Mitchell) Rejman, Sheryl (Bud) Dunshee, and Kelli (Michael) Martinez, as well as his brother, Timothy Carlson, with whom he shares a special bond. Children: Stephanie (Tim) Holst, Robert (Renee) Martin, Stephen (Lisa) Martin, and A.J. (Brittney) Miles; fifteen grandchildren, whom he adored; nephews, Tao Otts, Jayden Carlson, and Mathew Carlson; nieces Josey Carlson, Jenna Carlson, Kelsey Hallowell, Morgan Huber, Brittney McClelland, and Courtney Bruce; his Aunt Linda (Steve) Ramos, many cousins, special friends Shawn and Tara Green of Florida, and his beloved doggie, Gizmo.
Preceding him in death are his maternal grandparents, Willis and MaryJane Cloutier; paternal grandparents, Gilmore and Helen Carlson; great-grandma, Etha Lois Wakeland; aunts, Terrie Wilson, and Bonnie Buckley; Uncles, Robert Andrews, Jimmy Andrews, Darryl Wilson, Eugene Buckley, and granddaughter Aryanna Elizabeth McKenzie Martin.
Our family is deeply grateful for the exceptional care and compassion shown by the nurses and staff at the University of Iowa during Jason's time there. Your kindness in our time of sorrow will forever be etched in our hearts.
