Jeffrey Van Auken

Jeffrey Van Auken, a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on February 19, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital. He was born on April 14, 1960, in Muscatine, where he spent his formative years and developed a strong sense of community.

Jeff had been employed at GPC.

Jeff leaves behind a loving family. He is survived by his mother, Georgia Van Auken; his son, Jeremy Van Auken; and his daughter, Birgeetta Tharp, as well as his son-in-law, Matthew Tharp. His legacy is carried on by his cherished granddaughters, Grace, Morgen, and Annabelle Tharp, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also mourned by his sister, Diana Van Auken, and her husband, Bob Landsberger, along with his niece, Stefanie Cooper, and nephews, Chad and Matthew.

Jeff was predeceased by his father, James William Van Auken, whose memory he held dear.

His family and friends will forever remember him for his kindness, humor, and unwavering support. Jeff's presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
