Jerry Edward Baele, a man of immeasurable kindness and unwavering dedication to his family, passed away on August 14, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on March 8, 1948, in Kewanee, Illinois. Jerry's life was a tapestry of love, hard work, and cherished moments, woven through the years with the golden threads of joy and laughter. He drew his last breath in East Moline, Illinois, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and generosity that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him.
Jerry's journey through life included his wife Yvonne Baele, his brothers, Charlie (Connie) Baele, and Mike “Spook” Baele. Jerry's role as a father was one, he cherished deeply. His children Kandy (Tim) Cockeril, Kerry (Darren) Merrell, Jacob Baele, Angie (Donnie) Daigrepont, Paul (Amber) Baele, and Carolyn (Milo) Behnke. Each of his children carried a piece of his spirit and wisdom, which will continue to guide them throughout their lives.
As a grandfather, Jerry loved his grandchildren Kayla, Brittany, Riley, Haleigh, Devin, Chantel, Caleb, Austin, Jimmy, Emma, Lauren, and Logan. His love extended to his 11 great-grandchildren; each were precious to him.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, brother Mike Baele, son Jacob Baele, and grandson Devin Merrell.
Jerry was a retiree of John Deere. His time as a bus driver for Johannes Bus Service and the Annawan School District was marked by his friendly demeanor. His colleagues and those he served remember him as a man of integrity and warmth, who left a positive mark on every life he touched.
A man of the land, Jerry found solace in the open fields and amongst the horses which he loved. Working on the farm was not just a pastime, but a way of life that brought him immense satisfaction.
Jerry's life was rich with relationships, as he effortlessly sowed seeds of friendship wherever he went. Those who had the privilege of knowing Jerry would speak of his loving nature, his selflessness that knew no bounds, and the friendly smile that never seemed to fade.
As we bid farewell to Jerry Edward Baele, we are reminded of the impact that one life can have on so many. In our hearts, Jerry's spirit continues to thrive through the stories he shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave. Though he has embarked on his final journey to a place beyond the fields and skies he cherished so much, his legacy will forever be rooted here among us.
There will be a memorial visitation on Saturday, August 31, from 3pm - 5pm at Bethel Assembly of God, 3535 38th Avenue, Rock Island.
Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation & Direct Burial, Moline.
