Jerry F. Stogsdill, 87, of Coal Valley, passed away Monday, December 13, 2021 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at First Presbyterian Church of Coal Valley, 2431 1st St, Coal Valley, IL, with a visitation one hour prior starting at 1 pm. A dinner will follow the service.
Jerry was born May 31, 1934 in Moline, IL to Samuel and Bernice (Smith) Stogsdill. He married Carol Duke, who survives.
Jerry was active in the volunteer fire department in Coal Valley for many years, as well as the lions club. After he retired he enjoyed going to his grandkids school functions and spending time with family and friends. He owned and worked as a mechanic at his own shop and with Grisham’s towing for many years after he retired from IH Farmall after 25 years as a foreman. His dream was his 1959 red corvette; he would have loved to have another one. He enjoyed hunting, fishing as well as traveling both inside the US and abroad. But more than anything he loved visiting with people and telling stories. One of his favorite sayings in life was "always check and keep your oil changed."
Survivors include his wife Carol; children; Cheryl Patterson, Michelle Liedtke, Jerry Stogsdill; Grandchildren; David, Dale , Danny, Ben, Matt, Faith, Joe , Ben, Sammy, Jesse, Nikki, Alisha, Andrea, Allison, Will, Miranda, Myrissa, Mackinna, Tabitha and Abigail along with sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Bartrom.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter at birth, Stacie; grandchildren, Derrick Stogsdill, Robert Patterson Mariah Liedtke; brothers, Jack and Robert Stogsdill.
