Johnny (John) Wilmington, Jr. was called home to be with the Lord on December 15, 2024, at the age of 62.
A dedicated professional, John served as a Bank Associate for Davenport Bank & Trust Company for over 25 years, where he made lasting contributions through his commitment to both his work and his community. A proud graduate of Central High School, John embodied the spirit of friendship and camaraderie. Known for his warm demeanor and ability to connect with others, he was truly a friend to everyone he met.
His generous spirit extended into his personal life, where his daughter, Alecia Monroe-Wilmington, was the pride and joy of his life. He cherished their moments together, celebrating her achievements and supporting her dreams.
In his leisure time, John found joy on the basketball court, demonstrating his passion for the sport. When he wasn’t working or engaged with family, he could often be found honing his skills or enjoying a friendly game.
John is survived by the love of his life and beloved mother of his daughter, Eileen Monroe-Wilmington, his loving sisters and brother, Barbara Greer, Lisa Wilmington, and Patrick Wilmington, along with many nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Sr. and Shirley Wilmington, his brother Larry Wilmington, and his beloved daughter Alecia Monroe-Wilmington, as well as his nephew Brandon Wilmington. John leaves behind a legacy of kindness and dedication, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
