Kenneth R. "Ken" Showers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at his home in Davenport, IA on September 19, 2023, at the age of 82, after a courageous battle with dementia. Born on November 14, 1940, in Davenport, IA.
Ken's family was his pride and joy. He was the devoted husband of Linda VanBenthusen Showers, to whom he was married in 1959. He was the loving father of Brett Showers (Tammy), Daren Shade (Nyle), Tony Showers (Lauren), and Emily Reid (Mike). He was the proud grandfather of Kalin, Stafford, Meghan, Andrew, Ashton, Amy, Michael, Sarah, Nick, Tanner, Jack, Johnny, Sophia, and Ryan. He is also survived by his great grandkids and sister, Vicki Showers.
Ken dedicated his life to his family and his business. He attended the University of Iowa and Drake University, gaining the knowledge and skills that would help him create a legacy. He was the proud owner of Retrieval Business Systems of 51 years, a successful family business based in Milan, IL. His business serviced companies and organizations across the country, a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and relentless work ethic.
In his leisure time, Ken was an avid golfer, known as the chipper extraordinaire on the golf course. The Showers family lived both on the Iowa and Illinois side of the Mississippi, with most of their time spent in Illinois. The Showers home was where the whole family gathered to create memories.
Special thanks go to Mike and Emily for their dedicated caretaking of Ken during his illness. Their love and support were invaluable during this challenging time.
Ken will be remembered for his humor, generosity, and handyman skills. He had a knack for making people laugh, always ready with a joke. His generosity was evident in his relationships, always willing to lend a hand or offer support.
