As condolences roll in, a resounding theme about how cool Larry (aka Scary Larry) was is apparent. With his iconic long hair, incredible wit, and heightened sense of creativity, he effortlessly exuded “coolness.”
Larry loved good people, good food, good music, and good art. His wife, Sally, was drawn towards Larry’s zest for life.
Consequently, after the two won the “hitch em’ or ditch em’” contest on 97x radio in 1989, Sally obliged to Larry’s request for a toga themed wedding.
Larry had a heart of gold that was magnetic to friends and family. You could hear constant roars of laughter coming from the garage whenever he and his buddies were together.
Larry enjoyed the peaceful life he established for his wife, Sally, daughter, Ashley, and stepdaughter, Sarah in Sherrard. He often expressed his love for his family through food.
Larry was an amazing home cook and he even created and sold his own dry rub seasoning (Scary’sDirty White Boy), so everyone’s food could have a little “Larry Love.”
Larry enjoyed jamming out in his garage. The 2.5 car garage never really housed vehicles. Rather, he outfitted the space to be the ultimate hangout zone for his friends and family. The garage was his work of art with posters, tapestries, a fish tank, TVs, a pool table, and items collected over time that collaged the walls and ceiling. One wall was dedicated his own art - black and white abstract drawings. Visitors would always find something new to look at and admire.
Larry was truly one of a kind and will be missed by many. His cool personality touched everyone he met and left impactful memories. Stories about Larry will be shared for generations because he was legendary, and legends live forever.
He battled multiple myeloma cancer for two and a half years before he succumbed to his illness.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sally Piasecki, his daughter, Ashley (Travis) Watkins, his grandson Jett Watkins, his stepdaughter Sarah Swanson, his grandsons Elios and Kyran Ballard, his brother, Andy (Vicki) Piasecki, his sisters, Roxy Piasecki, Lynette Piasecki, and Jennifer Sandman, many nieces and nephews, and even more great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Maggie May Piasecki.
