Larry Warren Townsend, 79, of LaFayette, IL, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022, at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center, Kewanee, IL. Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
Larry, the son of Warren Townsend and Jessie Barron, was born on May 21, 1942, in Seattle, WA. He married Annette Bennett 35 years ago; she survives. His career was spent working in the maintenance departments for Galva Foundry, Maytag in Galesburg and then for Great Dane in Kewanee.
He enjoyed playing video games, fishing, collecting hot wheels, tinkering in the garage, and rebuilding things. Some of his fondest memories were camping at Allendale and fishing with his kids, but most of all, he loved spending time with his wife, Annette. One of Larry's favorite quotes that he would say to Annette through the years was: "Through the good and the bad, love conquers all." Larry's legacy was being kind, generous, and always helping others.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Annette; brother, Tom (Sue) Tomlinson of Kewanee, nine children, thirty-one grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, stepfather, a daughter in infancy, and his three brothers.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and express condolences on his Memory Wall.
