Linda Eldridge, 78, of East Moline, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at her home with her daughter and grandsons by her side.
Linda was the daughter of Raymond and Cinda (Brooks) Lundeen and Merle Eldridge's wife of 45 years, all of whom preceded her in death. Sister, Carol (O.B.) Chandler survives Linda.
Linda graduated among the first 1961 class at the newly built South Campus- UTHS. She attended ISU in Bloomington on a full teaching scholarship. Prior to being married, Linda worked for the State of Illinois Protective Services and later for DCFS as a social worker. Linda Lundeen married Merle Eldridge in October 1964 at Broadway Presbyterian Church in Rock Island. From this union, they were blessed with three surviving of four children; Mark (Glenda) Eldridge, Susan (Brian) Ketner, and Jane (Kirk) Vickers.
Linda's most beloved were those who called her Gram and Yaya. Luke and Jacob Ketner, Meredith and Scott Eldridge, and Raegan Vickers.
Linda loved being known as the "neighborhood mom" to the kids. She was always busy baking after-school snacks, with her kitchen table doubling for a desk to do their homework and an extra place setting to stay for dinner. She loved Julie, Louise, Becca, Brian N., Flora, Jenny, and Amy as her own, keeping in touch as years passed.
Additional survivors of Linda and Merle Eldridge are sister-in-law Linda Eldridge, niece, Dr. Carrie Horn, nephews, David Eldridge, Jr., and Matt and Sean Chandler. Two great-grand nieces and four great-grand nephews. Her best friend, Star Anders. All of Linda's grandpups, and her beloved fluffy-butt, Ellie Mae.
Graveside services will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, on Saturday, May 7 at 1:00 pm, where Linda and Merle will be laid to rest together. Arrangements are in the care of Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial, Moline.
In lieu of flowers, Linda and her family request that donations be made to the QCAWC (Quad City Animal Welfare Center) in Milan, IL.
The family of Linda Eldridge sends heartfelt thanks to the awesome Compassus Hospice nursing team for caring for their mother during her illness.
