"I think the next best thing to solving a problem is finding some humor in it." –Frank A. Clark.
Linda Marie England’s problem was Acute Myeloid Leukemia, which took her from this world, her family, and friends on December 10, 2023, at her beloved Bellagio in Las Vegas. Linda was born on August 29, 1948, to Harold Lewis “Tex” and Delores (Leetsch) Dealey in Hastings, NE. The funeral will take place at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, Davenport, IA, on December 28 at 11:00 AM.
Because of her dad’s job, the family moved around often, but finally settled in Walcott, Iowa, when Linda was six. That is where she grew up, had her first job and where one of her final resting places will be.
Linda married three times, finally hitting gold when she met and married O. Bryan England. She liked to say she kissed a lot of frogs before she met her prince. And he was her prince, and the love of her life.
Bryan and Linda met at St. Alban’s Episcopal church in Davenport and were married there on August 16, 1986. Half of their ashes will be spread in the Prayer Garden at St. Alban’s, where they shared so much history. Bryan’s job eventually took them to the Kansas City area, then to Washington DC and finally they returned to Missouri when Bryan retired. They called their three plus years in DC ‘an adventure in our old age’ and it was probably the most fun they ever had. Linda learned to drink there, an activity she embraced with enthusiasm. When she lost her sweet Bryan, she moved back to Iowa to live with her daughter, son-in-law and grand dog, Oakley.
She would like to have died with dignity and grace, but that just was not Linda’s style. She preferred humor – leave them laughing.
Linda loved to read – David Baldacci was one of her favorites and she loved the movies. The Oscars were the highlight of the year for her, and she usually managed to see all the films nominated for Best Picture, Best Director and all the acting categories. She is still fuming over Jamie Foxx winning the Oscar for RAY when it clearly should have been Leonardo DiCaprio for THE AVIATOR.
She also loved the Kansas City Chiefs, especially Patrick Mahomes. During the football season, a life-size cardboard Patrick graced the living room, much to the chagrin of her daughter and son-in-law who were Cowboy fans.
Linda is survived by her daughter Missy Parkin (Dave), brother-in-law, Jim Bost, Lawrence, KS, aunts, Lavon Monty, CO, Dorothy Mills, Omaha, NE and Kathy Dealey, Ogalala, NE, uncle Donald Dealey (Jeannette), Holdredge NE, nieces and nephews Tina Domincus (Tim) and Todd Wulf, Davenport, David England (Lisa) Lee Summit, MO, Kim England (Rob Freeland), Treasure Island, FL, Paul Bost (Megan) and Derek Bost, Lawrence, KS tons of cousins and several great nieces and nephews, and last but not least, Oakley, her grand dog.
She was preceded in death by her sweet Bryan, her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Robert “Herb” Wulf, her brother-in-law and sister- in-law, Jerry and Peggy England and her sister-in-law Linda Bost.
