Linda Hawkins, 72, of Davenport, Iowa, went to her eternal home on August 30, 2021, with her family by her side.
Linda was born February 1, 1949, the daughter of Roger Smith and Roberta (Bales) Wiese. Linda attended Davenport Schools. She married the love of her life Charles (Hank) Hawkins, on April 3, 1966 and together they had four children; Tina, Donnie, Chucky, and Gail.
Linda worked at D.A.V. Thrift store for 30 years. After retiring, she spent time with her family. Linda loved to watch games shows on tv, and she loved tracking her two oldest children on her phone as they traveled across the country with their jobs, where she liked to tell them what roads to travel. Linda enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling. She loved being with “her people,” as she called her family. Linda attended Christian Center Church in Davenport; she loved her church family, life, and she loved Jesus. Her family was very important to her, and she enjoyed being with them and looked forward to the holidays when she could see more of her family at one time. She loved talking on the phone and receiving video calls from her grandchildren. She was always there to encourage, provide guidance, and advice to her people when they called and, she cherished every moment that she spent with them. Linda will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and friend.
She will be remembered and missed by her husband Charles (Hank); her children, Tina (Michael) Williams, Davenport, IA, Donnie Hawkins, Mount Pleasant, IA, Gail (Chester) Ford Davenport, IA. Linda had seven grandchildren, Shari, Kassie, Tony, Matthew, Jessica, Clarine, and Aly, four step-grandchildren; Michelle, Lee, Sam, and Perry; Eleven great-grandchildren; Aspen, Kristopher, Morgan, Zachariah, Alexis, Leshay Jeffery, Tenia, Olivia, Alex, Robert; two step-great-grandchildren, Logan and Kindley. A sister, Pamala (Al) Kinner Davenport, IA, and a brother, Gregory (Marcy) Smith, Charleroi, PA. Her best friend Joann Brace, Davenport, IA, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Proceeding her in death were her parents, a brother, a son-in-law, grandson-in-law, and a baby son.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
