Linda Mitchum

November 4, 1948 — May 18, 2024

Linda Marion Mitchum, known for her gentle kindness, passed away peacefully in her home on May 18, 2024, in Moline, IL, after a brave journey with Alzheimer's Dementia. Born on November 4, 1948, in Ottumwa, IA, Linda's warmth and friendliness touched all who knew her throughout her 75 years of life.

Linda spent many years nurturing not only her loved ones but also those she cared for in her professional life. As a CNA, she dedicated many years to providing compassionate care and support to others.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Linda's interests painted a picture of a woman who found joy in life's simple pleasures. She was a regular on the casino boats, where her spirit was as bright as the flashing lights. Her hands were rarely still, as she crafted beauty through her crochet work and tri-chem painting. Yard sales were a treasure hunt for Linda, where she could find hidden gems and fun surprises.

Linda possessed a love for coloring, an activity that became a peaceful retreat for her. However, Linda's true delight was in playing board games with her grandkids. These moments were cherished, as she passed on her love for family to the younger generations while teaching them the best strategies to win by playfully cheating!

Linda was the beloved wife of the late Walter Mitchum, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories. She was a devoted mother to her children, Melissa "Missy" Hill and her husband Kevin, Walter Mitchum II and his wife Leigh, Lynda "Dee" Hanson and her husband Oly, and Deborah "Debbie" Wagner and her husband Shannon. Linda was the proud grandmother and great-grandmother to oodles of grandkids and great grandkids, each of whom she adored with all her heart.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff of Active Day who provided comfort and care to "Linda Lou" in her final years. Her journey was made gentler by their dedication and compassion.
