Maryanne Hamilton passed away on December 29, 2022, after a battle with Dementia at the age of 77. She was a loving mother, sister and grandmother to all of her family.
Maryanne Gilbrech was born on August 10, 1945, in Des Moines, IA, to Leroy and Gretchen (Wilmoth) Gilbrech. She has one sister, Patricia (Gilbrech) Carver of Meridian, ID. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Des Moines in 1963. She married Charles Hamilton Jr. in 1968. They moved to Bettendorf in 1969 where she lived the rest of her life.
Maryanne enjoyed watching sports, especially football and basketball, and loved the years of the Bulls with the Michael Jordan teams and saw them play in person many times. She also loved her grandchildren's softball, baseball, basketball, volleyball, and football games and would drive all over the state to see them play. Her other passion was education as the owner of Hamilton Technical College. The College was founded by her and her husband, Charles Hamilton Jr, in 1969 at the dining room table of their home, and they worked together until his death in 1997 in a plane crash. Maryanne dedicated herself to Hamilton Tech, students, and employees she loved so much until she sold in 2018.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lisa (Bob) Boyd of Bettendorf, IA, Michelle (Todd) Carlisle of West Des Moines, IA, and Marideth (John) DeSalvo of Davenport, IA; six grandchildren, Brianna (Josh) Beard of Bettendorf, IA, Katie (Alex) Stuhr of Davenport, IA, Alison (Spencer) Boyd of LeClaire, IA, Nicholas Carlisle, Benjamin Carlisle, and Stephanie Carlisle all of West Des Moines, IA; and eight great-grandchildren.
