Nathan (Miller) Storm

10-24-1958 to 3-7-2022, age 63 transcended peacefully in his home at 7:53 p.m. He was surrounded by his family and pets. On January 26, 2022 Nathan presented with a very rare neurological disease called CJD - Creutzfeld-Jakob Disease. CJD is a rapidly progressive disease with no known treatment or cure.

Nathan was born in Seattle, WA to Marques and Genevieve Miller. The family moved to Oakland, CA. He attended Oakland High School. At this time, his love and aptitude of music rose. He played cello and later mastering the bass trombone. Nathan was always proud to have studied under William "Bill" Bell aka "The Jazz Professor", and played with other Jazz greats. At the age of 17, Nathan was offered a career in Jazz music. He decided not to follow this path, instead teaching himself computer coding.

Nathan was "head hunted" by Charles Schwab in San Francisco, CA rising to Head of Computer Securities. He later transferred to Scottsdale, AZ with the same role. Nathan also worked for The State of New York in Albany, NY. He later moved to Boston, MA taking employment at Boston University. Nathan was an Automation Specialist programming mainframe computers coding them to carry out assigned tasks. He also worked on Blue Jean the super computer associated with various MA colleges/universities and CERN. At end-of-life, he was working remotely from Moline, IL for Alight Solutions in the field he loved.

In 1983, Nathan married Diane Reynolds. Together they had two daughters: Laine (1985) and Lindsay (1987). Nathan and Diane divorced in 2009.

In 2010, Nathan met and married Ronda Storm and became a loving Stepfather to Devon and Miranda "Ruby" Storm. At this time Nathan took the Storm surname to present family unity and cohesiveness.

Nathan was a life-long learner and seeker of knowledge. He would spend time visiting with people learning about their culture and life experiences, and oftentimes departing words of wisdom to help them in their life's journey.

Nathan not only loved music, but art, traveling, and exploring new locations. He could often be found wandering through museum of all types. He had visited several countries and all but two of the states in the USA. He had a passion for cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed watching boxing and MMA fights. He was an avid reader averaging seven to eight books a week.

In his youth, he belonged to the Free Methodist Church in Oakland, CA. He later became a member to the Universal Unitarian Church in Berkeley, CA. After moving to Scottsdale, he became an active member of the Sikh community. Later in life, he adopted the attitude of "Love All Serve All" and embraced the philosophy and lifestyle of "Spiritual but not Religious". He truly embraced all forms of love, kindness, forgiveness, and acceptance of all. He made world-wide friends in all cultures and societies with respect.

A "Living Wake" was held over a few days prior to Nathan's passing. On the night of his departure, a private and personal ceremony was held by his family who were present during his transition. There will be no local public funeral or memorial services. After cremation, Nathan's remains will be taken to San Francisco, CA where a private family service will be held. Monetary gifts and memorials can be sent to Ronda Storm to help with final arrangements.
