Raphael Toney, 67, of Davenport, IA, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, January 14, 2022, at 11:00 am at the OneEighty Community Center, 601 N. Marquette Street, Davenport, IA.
Raphael was born on April 27, 1955, in Wichita, KS, to Ladell and Gwendolyn (Albright) Toney Sr. He married Karen Cole on February 14, 1978, whom he had two daughters with and later divorced.
He graduated from North High School in Wichita, KS, class of 1973. Raphael dreamed of being a professional basketball player and set records that no one broke until 2014 when an article was written in the local paper about them "The Wichita Eagle." He attended college at Friends University, Wichita, KS.
Raphael worked as a bank manager and most recently, as a supervisor at OneEighty. He was passionate about teaching God's Word and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all who would listen.
He enjoyed fishing, thrill rides, basketball, backgammon, philosophy, and 70's & Disco music.
Raphael could quote scripture like no other and The Word of God in General. Psalms 91 was his favorite.
Survivors include his children, Melissa Siler, Madelyne Toney, Andrea Toney, and Marcus Rodriguez; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his mother, Gwendolyn Toney; and sister Cynthia Scales.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ladell Toney Sr.; brother Ladell Toney Jr.; two sisters, Ricki Wagner and Kathy Pyles; and grandson Derrick Mims.
