Ray Hall

Ray Thomas Hall, 65, of Rock Island, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at his residence.

Ray T. Hall was born to Janet Hall in Kewanee Illinois on the 23rd of January 1958, the oldest of 3 siblings. He was called Tommy as a child. After the birth of his youngest sister the family moved to Florida where he grew up along with his 2 sisters Jean and Lora.

During childhood Ray enjoyed swimming, surfing, sailing, playing baseball, race cars, Daytona Beach, building and remodeling things and picking on his sisters. Shortly after graduation Ray married and later moved back to Illinois with his late ex-wife and son.

After his divorce and a period of traveling the states, Ray eventually settled in California. Being a sociable person and also thru his work, while in California he met and made numerous friends as well as had relationships with a few partners, some of whom bore his children, some of which children he also raised, and also other children to whom he became a father figure.

As a free-lance contractor Ray remodeled houses and installed all types of flooring in many places whether they were homes, apartments, condos, business establishments and even vehicles. He also did flooring work for the former Monsanto corporation when Ray once again relocated back to Illinois.

Ray was a hard worker, a good provider and loved being a parent/step-parent/father figure. He loved all his children as well as the children of his former partners. His door was always open and there was always a steady stream of family and friends in and out of his home. Ray also had a variety of pets over the years including cats, dogs, birds, turtles, rats, hamsters, lizards and frogs.

Ray, his children and former partners and friends also enjoyed many road trips, camping adventures, cookouts, bbq's, bicycling, all holidays especially St Paddys day, birthdays, sporting events, concerts, school functions involving his children, family movie time, football games, water balloon races, and poker games. Ray enjoyed relaxing at his table or in his recliner and blazing a fatty. He also enjoyed sharing in the births of his grandchildren and loved being a grandpa.

Ray was preceded in death by his late stepfather Eugene, his beloved mother Janet, his ex-wife Susie, several aunts and uncles, special friends Ellie, JJ, Joe and best bud Pat F.

He is survived by his 2 sisters Jean and Lora, his sons - Thomas, Chaz and Carl, and his daughters - Savannah, twins Madison and Elizabeth, as well as his former stepdaughter Johnny and lastly grandchildren Jonathon, Michael, McKenzie, Riley and Rylan and his special friend Judy.

Ray was a perfectly imperfect person who lived a full life of romance, adventure, daring, mystery, pranks and hijinks. He touched many lives and will always live on forever in the hearts of all those who loved him.
