Richard Atwater, 70, of Davenport, IA, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation & Direct Burial, Moline, IL. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 8, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, 1216 W.8th St, Davenport, Iowa 52802, at 11 am. The family will greet friends starting at 10am. There will be a luncheon following the service at the church.
Richard was born on June 12, 1954, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Richard and Leona (Reed) Atwater. He married Sherry Ann Newton on August 29, 2009, in Davenport, Iowa. Richard was a big fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sherry of Davenport; one son Bryan (Christina) Atwater of Burlington, Iowa; two daughters Kara Roberts (Todd Goble), Burlington, Iowa; Andrea Atwater (Rick Lopez) of Davenport, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Briana Atwater, Sabrina Rivera and Tiffany Fahrenkrug all of Davenport, Ia; Sean (Taylor) Atwater, Zachary (Jessi) Atwater, Kaylea (Cowan) Hayes, Kamaryn Atwater, Karly Roberts, Kinnady Atwater, Bryer Atwater all of Burlington, IA. 12 great grandkids. Two brothers, Patrick Atwater and Bob ( Kathy) Griffin; Three sisters, Tina Atwater, Sue (Kevin) Colby, and Sonja Hurto, multiple neices and nephews and a special friend, Russell Atkinson of Davenport.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Richard Bergert of Davenport, Three brothers, one sister, and his great-granddaughter, Lailiana Annebelle.
