In Loving Memory of Richard Lee Davis
Richard “Dick” Davis, born March 1, 1938, to William Davis and Mae Scheunert Davis,
passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025 at the age of 86. A devoted husband,
father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Richard’s life was defined by love, hard
work, resilience and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of family and nature.
Dick graduated from Moline Public High School in 1956. In 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann Krauel, with whom he had two daughters, Laura Valdez of Dixon, IL, and Jean Sharif (Hamid) of Omaha, NE.
He began his long career with John Deere in 1958 and took great pride in his work until his
retirement in 1990. A lifelong John Deere enthusiast, he amassed an impressive
collection of toy tractors and memorabilia.
After Patricia’s passing in 1965, Richard later found love again and married Barbara Mae Bruchmann in 1973,
gaining three more daughters: Kristin Bruchmann of Davenport, Beth Bruchmann of
Cummings, GA, and Alison (TJ) Burden of Alpharetta, GA.
After retirement, Dick found pleasure in the outdoors, tending to his yard, planting flowers,
and feeding the local birds. He also pursued various other hobbies over the years and,
most of all, cherished time with his eight grandsons: Gabriel, Marc, and Eric (Darcy)
Valdez; Ali, Comi (Hadas), and Mateen (Lauren) Sharif; Donovan and Broderick O'Linn.
His love extended to his bonus grandson, Adam Nolin, and his five great-grandchildren:
Gabriel II, Kinnick, Ashlie, Rosemary, and Kaylee. Whether teaching his grandsons how
to fish and golf or simply spending time with family, Richard's presence was a source of
warmth and wisdom.
Richard’s kindness, love, and unwavering devotion to family will be dearly missed but
never forgotten. A service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of
flowers, please plant a flower or feed the birds in memory of Dick.
Rest in peace, Dick. Your legacy of love, kindness, and list making will live on in the
hearts of those who knew and loved you.
