Born on March 28, 1944, in Rock Island, IL, Huck's life was a testament to his intelligence, wisdom, and handy nature.
Huck was a proud Vietnam veteran who served his country with honor and courage. After returning from his service, he dedicated his career to the John Deere technical center where he utilized his keen intellect and problem-solving skills to improve agricultural technology. He was also an active member of the Free Masons, contributing to the fraternity's values of brotherhood, charity, and truth.
He pursued academic excellence, earning a Master's degree from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois, which further demonstrated his commitment to learning and professional development. Huck's educational background was a cornerstone of his successful career and his ability to mentor others.
Family was the centerpiece of Huck's life. He is survived by his loving sons, Dale Hockenberry and his wife Karola, and Brian Hockenberry and his wife Shelly. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jason, Robert (Bobby), Kayla, and Jena, and his five great-grandchildren, who will carry his memory forward with love and admiration.
An avid outdoorsman, Huck found peace and joy in hunting and fishing. His patience and deep knowledge of the natural world made him an excellent sportsman and a cherished companion on many expeditions with friends and family. These moments in the wilderness were among his most treasured memories.
