Richard Reed

September 29, 1957 — April 26, 2024

Richard G. Reed, age 66, passed away on April 26, 2024, at his home, surrounded by family. He was born on September 29, 1957, in Savanna, to Milo and Rose Marie “Rosie” (Aitken) Reed.

Rich graduated from Savanna High School with the class of 1975. His work ethic was evident throughout his career, while working at Deep Rock Gas Station, the Railroad, Powerlab, and International Battery. Later, he dedicated almost 25 years to Brandt Construction in Milan, IL.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends outdoors, fishing, camping, and going on the river. He’ll forever be remembered for his love for sports, whether he was playing softball or basketball in his earlier years, watching his kids from the sideline, shooting hoops in the driveway with his grandkids, or rooting for the Chicago Bears, Bulls, and Cubs.

Rich is survived by his beloved companion, Susan Buckley; daughters Jennifer (Julio) Ortiz, Susan (Gus) Castagno, Kate (Justin) Hoertz, Rachel (Shawn) Danzinger, Ashley (Adam) Childers, and honorary daughter Jamie Dierks; grandchildren, Payton, Shelbi, Neveah, McCoy, Cooper, Alayna, Delaney, Brynn, Emery, Leah, Lane, Clara, Chloe, Hudson, Aiden, and Autumn; and great-granddaughter Lennon. Siblings Ronda Koser, Darcy (Randy) Holland, Scott (Diane) Reed, and Rodney (Kelly) Reed, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter Sarah Reed, son Andrew Reed, parents Milo and Rosie Reed, and brother-in-law Terry Koser.
