Richard Rice

Richard (Dick) L. Rice, 83, of Carbon Cliff, IL, passed away on November 8, 2024, at Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial, 1811 15th Street Pl., Moline, IL 61265. 

Dick was born on June 3, 1941, in Geneseo, IL, to Howard Earl Rice and Evelyn Eva Armstrong Rice. Dick grew up in Geneseo and graduated from Geneseo High School in 1959. He went on to work for John Deere Company until his retirement.

 Dick married Anne Hope Brown, and together they had one son Thomas Joseph Rice.

 Dick was an outdoors person and enjoyed fishing, his motorcycle, and any activities his son or grandsons participated in.

Those left to celebrate Dick are his son, Tom Rice; two grandsons, Richie Rice, and Ryan Rice, along with a third grandson in heart, Kameron Wilkerson (brother to the others); former daughter-in-law Heather Quist, Rock Island; sister, Sandra Holmstrom, Geneseo, and brother Larry (Karen) Rice, Geneseo, and many nieces and nephews.

Those preceding Dick in death are, mother and father, Howard and Evelyn Rice, wife, Anne Hope Rice, brother, William (Bill) Rice, sister, Mary Ann Girten, brothers in laws, Gene Girten and W. Roy Holmstrom, and sister in law, Karen J. Rice. Lastly his darling weenie girl Elfie, the best dog in the whole wide world.
