Robert Benson Coulter of Milan, IL, passed away on January 5, 2022.
Robert, known to close family and friends as "R.B." or "Beeze" was born to Robert Burdette Coulter and Marjorie (Benson) Coulter August 24, 1941 in Moline, IL.
Robert attended and graduated from Winola High School in 1959. That same year he received the highest honor of the Pro Deo et Patria award for his service to The Boy Scouts of America and Calvary Lutheran Church in New Windsor, IL.
He entered active-duty United States Army on December 30th, 1963 and worked as a single engine aircraft mechanic at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Robert worked at Eagle Warehouse in Milan. He married Karen Kae Brogger, and had two children, a son Michael L. Coulter and a daughter, Chris M. Coulter.
Robert worked at Shive-Hattery and Associates in Davenport, IA and Moline, IL, for 25 years before deciding to follow a respected colleague in his own business endeavor at Eggar Engineering in Bettendorf, IA for 10 plus years.
He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was able to achieve his dream of building a cabin and putting in a lake on his property in New Windsor, IL. His hobbies included coaching Babe Ruth Baseball, ASA Fast-pitch Softball, fishing with his grandchildren, restoring antique vehicles, and watching his beloved Chicago Bears with his brother, even though he knew the outcome would most likely be another loss. In his retirement he also enjoyed working part-time for Enterprise Rental Company.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Viola, IL, before inurnment to his final resting place in the Viola Cemetery.
Survivors include half-brothers and sisters Jerry (Judy) Young and Spud (Jan) Young, Viola, IL, Vicci Pinkerton (John), Wisconsin, Ronnie Coulter, and Roxanne Coulter. Son, Michael Coulter (Maria), East Moline, IL; daughter, Chris McDaniel (Todd), Darien, IL; grandchildren, Devin Coulter, Rock Island, IL, Jack McDaniel and Raegan McDaniel, Darien, IL, Nolan Doxsee, East Moline, Alec Doxsee, Iowa City IA, Luke Johnson, East Moline, IL; great-grandchildren, Grant "Bubba" Coulter and Elise Lily Coulter, Rock Island, IL and Liam Doxsee, East Moline, IL, as well as many loving cousins and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie (Benson) Young, and father, Robert Burdette Coulter.
