Sally Jo (Pettit) Munson, of Cordova, IL passed away on October 18, 2023, surrounded by family.
Born on September 14, 1947, in Moline, Illinois, Sally was one of seven kids, and the youngest daughter to Eleanor and George Pettit. Sally graduated from Riverdale High School in 1965. She married Sonny Munson on March 15, 1975, and had three daughters Gina, Alissa and Vanessa.
Sally worked for State Farm corporate offices. She also worked for Lutheran Social Services in Champaign County, Illinois. She ended her career working at Genesis Health System in Silvis, Illinois.
Sally was a kind soul who was the primary caregiver to her brothers Bob, who passed away in 2016 and Jim. She also spent a decade caring for her mother, Eleanor, who passed away in 2020.
Sally lived a full life surrounded by family. She is survived by her daughters Regina (Michael) Johnson of Fulton, Illinois, Alissa (Brandon) Martel of Cordova, Illinois, and Vanessa Munson of Cordova, Illinois. She is also survived by her siblings, William (Kate) Pettit of Reedsburg, Wisconsin and James Pettit of Cordova, Illinois.
She had 10 grandchildren: Michael Johnson, Drake Johnson, Devin (Britney) Gerdes, Trever Johnson, Maranda Johnson, Remi Johnson, Samantha Johnson, Ava and Brynlee Munson Martel. Sally also had 3 great-grandchildren Kyler Eden, Maddox Eden and Stella Gerdes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Munson. Her parents, Eleanor and George Pettit; sisters Suzanne Yates and Sherrill Gooding; brothers Robert Pettit, and Thomas Pettit, and niece Bretta Gooding.
