Sandra (Sandee) Luster, 75, was born March 3, 1949, in Iowa City, IA, to her loving parents, Harold and Georgia (Clapp) Luster.
Sandee passed away unexpectedly on August 17, leaving her family to mourn this tragic loss.
Funeral Services are Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 3:00 pm, followed by a memorial visitation from 3:30 - 5:00 pm at Mississippi Valley Cremation & Direct Burial, 1811 15th Street Place, Moline. Funeral reception will take place following visitation at Riverside United Methodist Moline, 712 16th St., Moline.
She believed in helping others and donated bone marrow to a young lady in the early 1980s. Unfortunately, this young woman would not survive, but this event made a huge impact on her life. Sandee became an organ donor, and with her untimely passing, she gave herself in hopes of helping to save another life.
She was a devout Christian growing up at First United Methodist Church in Moline for most of her life before moving to First Methodist in Geneseo in her later years. Her strong faith led her to Walk to Emmaus, where she joyfully served on over 30 teams.
Her voice could be heard all over the United States and even on a trip to Europe as she sang for many years in her barber shop quartet under the organization Harmony Incorporated. She loved singing and music and reveled in being on stage in shows and competitions, making many lifelong friends along the way.
Sandee showed love to family and friends in many ways, including cards, letters, phone calls, and prayers. If you were lucky enough to be a friend to her, you’d know you were also fortunate enough to be gifted her lovingly baked bread loaves as a special treat or a Thank You. She had a quirky sense of humor, a boisterous voice, and a love for entertaining. She was always ready with a story or a joke and prized her time in front of a microphone.
Her biggest dream was to be called mom. She was blessed with that honor not once but three times when she adopted her daughters in 1998. With that came her greatest joys in life: her five grandchildren, of whom she couldn’t have been more proud.
Sandee is preceded in death by her father, Harold, and Mother, Georgia (Clapp) Luster.
She is survived by her daughters Samantha Luster (Matthew Guss), Donna Luster, Megan (Luster) Schultz; Grandchildren Taylan, Emma, Carter, Atticus, Sebastian; Sisters Judy Luster, Nancy (Rich) Piatt, Lynda Luster, Janet (Larry) Hermann; four nieces, three nephews, and eight great-nieces and nephews.
