Shawn Richard Thompson

Shawn Richard Thompson, 60, of Milan, IL, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Allure of the Quad-Cities in Moline after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Shawn was born on September 9th, 1964, in Hawaii to Clyde and Kathleen (KC) Maere Thompson. After a few years, the family moved to the Quad Cities, where Shawn later attended the Rock Island school district. He enjoyed collecting comic books and listening to music, with Madonna and Motley Crue being a couple of his all-time favorites. He also really enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.

Shawn held many positions over the years, but some of his favorites were delivering pizzas from Happy Joes and working in the mailroom at The Dispatch. 

Shawn adored his mother, with whom he resided with until recently. They together enjoyed frequenting the local casinos and entertaining a pizza together on Friday nights.

Shawn is preceded in death by his father and grandparents. He leaves behind his mother, Kathleen (KC), his brother, Scott, and many extended family members. 

The family asks that memorials be made to The American Cancer Association or The Alzheimers Association in Shawn’s honor.

Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation & Direct Burial, Moline.
