Sherry L. Hexamer, 55, of Washington, IL, passed away on January 5, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, IA. Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded. No services are scheduled at this time.
Sherry Lavonne Hexamer was born on June 24, 1966 to John and Margaret (Stark) Parish in Moline, IL. She managed the family business known as Parish's Pub in Washington, IL. Sherry enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, kayaking, canoeing, second hand stores and garage sales. She loved collecting angel keepsakes and decorative crosses.
She had a Rottweiler dog named Haven as a companion, whom she loved very much and he loved her unconditionally as well.
She was known for her big heart and compassionate spirit; she loved taking care of people and wouldn't hesitate to give you the shirt off her back. Sherry was a beautiful and caring person inside and out, always making friends along the way in life. She loved spending time with her family, especially her daughters and grandchildren. Her legacy will forever be remembered by her daughters, grandchildren along with her nieces and nephews; she was so proud of them all!
Her favorite poem:
"I'm Free" -
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’m following the path God has laid you see.
I took His hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee
God wanted me now; He set me free.
