In remembrance of Travis' deep love for children, memorial contributions can be made to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital to support children battling cancer.
Travis was a beloved father, son, brother, and friend. He lived a life marked by unwavering faith, love, and kindness that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. During his time at Brown County High School in Mt. Sterling, Illinois, Travis was an accomplished athlete, excelling in track and basketball. These were cherished memories that he often shared with his sons, who loved hearing about his sports achievements. Travis loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his sons. These moments created lasting bonds and memories that his sons will always treasure. In his early adult years, Travis was a talented ferrier with a deep passion for horses and horse racing. He later transitioned to a successful career as a carpenter. He was a great mentor and friend to many throughout his career. Travis was a man who would never shy away from hard work. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and was a generous giver of his time and resources.
Travis married Heather R. Turner on December 4, 1993, and they raised three sons together who they adored. He was a faithful and loving family man. Nothing gave Travis greater joy than being a father. As a father, he was a pillar of support, exemplifying true character through hard work, faithfulness, honesty, integrity, and treating others with love and compassion. He demonstrated the power of prayer and how to cultivate a personal relationship with the Lord. His impact on his children’s lives is immeasurable and will continue for generations. Joshua, Caleb, and Samuel are beyond blessed and grateful to call him Father – he was their hero.
Travis was a man of God whose love and kindness extended to everyone he met. If you had the privilege of knowing him, you encountered the best man, friend, advice giver, leader in faith, and father you could ever meet. His love and friendship brought healing to many hearts and lives. His gift for seeing and loving people as God does was truly special. A prayer warrior, Travis was always ready with a word from God to encourage and bring hope. His infectious humor and ability to find joy even in difficult times were testaments to his strength of character.
Travis is survived by his former wife and eternal loving friend, Heather Parous (Turner) and their three sons: Joshua Limkeman, Caleb Limkeman, and Samuel Limkeman (Morgan), and his (9) siblings: Linda Howard, Larry Limkeman, Carla Thomas, Howard Limkeman, Craig Limkeman, Sheri Kelley (Kevin), Chris Kerr (Jim), David Limkeman and James Limkeman.
