Warren Carter

October 24, 1944 — October 26, 2023

Warren Irwin Carter Jr., affectionately known as Warren, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2023, at his home in Blue Grass, Iowa due to congestive heart failure. Born on October 24, 1944, in Davenport, Iowa, Warren was an integral part of a large and loving family.

Warren was one of 12 children and was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill, and his sister Judy, as well as the love of his life and mother of his children, Diana Carter(Dean). He was a proud father to four children: Teresa Douglas (Carter), Warren Carter, Russell Carter, and Bethleanne Carter. Tragically, his youngest child was stillborn. He was a doting grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who all adored him.

A proud alumnus of Davenport's West High School, Warren was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He made a name for himself as one of the best operating engineers in the Quad Cities. His lifelong occupation running a backhoe was more than a job to him; it was a passion that brought him great satisfaction and respect within the community.

In his later years, Warren ventured into gold mining in California, an experience that added another exciting chapter to his rich life story. However, it was in Blue Grass, Iowa, where he found his true slice of heaven. It was there that he bought a property and resided until his passing. Warren's love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for gardening and running his sawmill. His green thumb was legendary, especially when it came to growing tomatoes. He had the unique ability to cultivate the most flavorful tomatoes, which he generously shared with many, bringing joy to all who tasted them.

Warren's life was a testament to the power of hard work, resilience, and the enduring love of family. His legacy will live on in the lives of those he touched with his kindness, his laughter, and his unwavering spirit. He will be remembered not just for his achievements, but for the warmth and love he brought to every aspect of his life.

In honor of Warren's life, we remember a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and worked tirelessly. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us. As we bid farewell to Warren Irwin Carter Jr., we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the time we had with him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
